The Differences Between Halogen and Xenon Headlights

There are noticeable differences between the kind of light and brightness that halogen and xenon headlights omit. If you have seen a xenon headlight in action then you will notice the remarkable brightness of it in contrast to the traditional halogen models. This is why more and more people are investing in conversion kits for their vehicles so that they too can experience this superior light.

This difference in brightness is due to the technology behind these two different types of bulb. Xenon bulbs utilise trapped xenon gas inside the bulb, which results in a much brighter light and longer life span. Halogen lights are more traditional in their make up. They resemble many of the bulbs that you see inside your house, only they are smaller.

The kind of light that each bulb produces is also worth mentioning. A xenon headlight is much more focused on the road ahead of the vehicle than a halogen headlight, and it tends to give off a slight blue tinge. You will be more used to halogen lights, as they are the ones that produce a more yellow kind of light and one that is duller. If you touch the halogen headlight after a long journey, you will notice that it is hot. This is in contrast to the xenon bulbs, which maintain their coolness when in use.

There is also a big difference between these headlights in terms of what they cost. Standard halogen bulbs will only cost you a few dollars, whereas xenon bulbs will throw you back hundreds of dollars when you invest in xenon conversion kits. There are places out there that do offer value for money and great prices though. See our website if you are interested in making the change to xenon headlights.
